Job Description (Detailed)
Job Title: Health and Benefits Intern
Employment Type: Internship. This is a temporary contract position.
• Visa Sponsorship: Not offered for this specific opportunity. Only candidates currently authorized to work in the United States who will not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered. Student visas, CPT, OPT, H-1B, TN, and other temporary work authorizations are considered restricted forms of employment eligibility. Candidates must be able to present another valid form of work authorization once these expire.

Locations: This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to be local and able to commute to one of the WTW offices. Relocation or housing assistance is not offered.

Role Summary:
As a Health and Benefits Intern, you will work alongside experienced consultants, with the goal of developing into a future thought leader. The role provides immediate exposure to real client assignments, drawing on imagination, creativity, and analytical skills to interpret data, draw conclusions, and present results. These experiences contribute to building technical knowledge and industry expertise. Interns will also participate in twice-weekly learning and networking sessions with colleagues and leaders across Health and Benefits and other WTW businesses.
Exposure Across Business Functions:
Interns will gain exposure to various functions within the Health & Benefits business, including:
• CST (Client Service Team): This team is central to delivering strategic support in H&B, leading client engagements in the design and management of comprehensive health and benefits programs. They develop and execute client strategy, ensuring alignment with objectives, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and quality standards. CST builds and maintains strong, trusted client relationships, proactively advising, leading vendor procurement strategy, engaging subject matter experts, and providing superior client service.
• FAA (Health and Benefits Financial, Actuarial, and Analytics): This team drives revenue by leading strategic quantitative and risk conversations with employer clients. They provide quantitative reporting and projections with strategic insights, including recommendations on funding, plan design, and innovative financial solutions. FAA leverages financial management and data analytics to solve complex client problems and develop new H&B intellectual capital.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks:
Interns will work with colleagues at all levels and gain exposure to clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to mid- and smaller-sized businesses. Specific tasks include:
• Supporting the development and implementation of new client strategies and solutions.
• Analyzing and comparing vendor products, services, and contracts.
• Performing financial analyses, such as developing pricing, creating employee contribution strategies, and modeling plan design alternatives.
• Gaining specialized knowledge in areas like pharmacy, life and disability insurance, health equity and wellbeing, vendor placement, actuarial/analytics, and more.
• Evaluating responses to surveys and vendor proposals.
Qualifications:
Role Requirements:
• Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in human capital/human resource management, health economics, risk management & insurance, business management, marketing and finance, actuarial science, advanced mathematics, or any other major with significant quantitative coursework.
• GPA: A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is required.
• Graduation Window: Accepting applications from candidates who will graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree between December 2026 through June 2027.
• Actuarial Students: Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams is beneficial.
• Experience: Prior internship or other work experience demonstrating increasing levels of complex work, autonomy, and client service skills.

Compensation and Benefits:
• Hourly Rate: The hourly rate offered for this role is $26-$30 USD/hr.
