Head of Remittance & FI | Mashreq

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mashreq, located in Pakistan. Mashreq is a banking institution that facilitates crucial cross-border financial services. This role is pivotal in managing the bank’s remittance operations and relationships with global financial institutions, serving as a strategic link to expand international connectivity. The position directly supports the growth of the Non-Resident Pakistan (NRP) and Roshan Digital Account (RDA) propositions by driving customer acquisition, remittance flows, and investment opportunities.

• Mission: Manages remittance business and financial institution relationships to enable cross-border opportunities and expand the bank’s international connectivity.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategy & Growth: Lead and manage the remittance business by developing and implementing strategies to enhance operations, strengthen partnerships, and expand remittance corridors.
• Financial Management: Own the remittance P&L, annual budget, cost model, and margin targets, ensuring delivery of revenue growth and cost efficiency.
• Partnership Expansion: Expand the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) and Non-Resident Pakistan (NRP) business by establishing strategic partnerships with overseas banks, exchange houses, and fintechs.
• Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with central bank, local, and international financial institutions, managing KYC for new FI relationships and Vostro/Nostro accounts.
• Risk & Compliance: Manage and negotiate legal and operational documentation with counterparty banks, coordinating periodic credit reviews and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum bachelor’s degree, with a preference for a master’s degree in Finance or a related field, focusing on a bank’s FI and remittance function.
• Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience specifically within a bank’s financial institution (FI) and remittance function.
• Skills: Strong understanding of Foreign Exchange (FE) regulations, FI trade, financial markets, and remittance products, coupled with excellent interpersonal, communication, lateral thinking, and analytical abilities.
