Head of General Partner (GP) Reporting & Fund Data Governance | Neuberger Berman

The Tone:

The Head of GP Reporting & Fund Data Governance is critical for overseeing the accuracy, timeliness, and control integrity of PE financial and data reporting. This leader will drive strategic process improvement, strengthen control frameworks, and partner closely with Technology to modernize and scale the PE Finance operating model as the business grows.

• Mission: Oversees Private Equity Finance operations, including General Partner (GP) reporting, carry program administration, and PE data governance and reconciliation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Team Leadership: Manage, develop, and evaluate direct reports while setting team goals and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the PE Finance function.
• GP Reporting & Carry Program Oversight: Oversee carry distributions, capital activity, quarterly mark-to-market valuations, and ensure alignment of governing documents with legal, tax, and business requirements.
• PE Data Governance & Controls: Provide oversight of PE data reconciliation processes, including daily breaks resolution and third-party reconciliation review, in partnership with technology and fund finance teams.
• Strategic & Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Technology teams to drive system enhancements, lead the design and implementation of new processes and control frameworks, and evaluate the scalability of the operating model.
• Financial Reporting Support: Oversee General Ledger entries supporting the monthly close and support quarterly and annual financial reporting and audit requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; a senior leadership role within financial services or asset management.
• Experience: 12-15+ years of progressive experience, with significant exposure to private equity finance, carry plans, and data/reconciliation operations, including proven people management experience leading teams of managers and senior individual contributors.
• Skills: Deep knowledge of PE fund structures, capital calls, distributions, carry mechanics, and GP financial reporting; strong understanding of financial data systems, controls frameworks, and reconciliation processes; advanced Excel skills; excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project management skills.
• Bonus: CPA certification.
