Job Description: Hardware Engineer – Cisco Secure Firepower Next Generation Firewalls
This role involves designing the hardware boards for Cisco Secure Firepower Next Generation Firewalls. The goal is to achieve the best quality, power efficiency, and price/performance for cutting-edge network security technology. Responsibilities span the entire product lifecycle, from initial design and schematic entry (using tools like Cadence Concept and Allegro) through CAD design, board bring-up, validation, and final product release.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
• Design and development of hardware boards for Cisco Secure Firepower Next Generation Firewalls.
• Schematic entry and CAD design using tools such as Cadence Concept and Allegro (or similar).
• Board bring-up and validation, ensuring the product meets specifications.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, software) and external vendors throughout the development process.
• Problem-solving and overcoming technical challenges during development.
• Taking the product through to release.
Minimum Qualifications:
• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in hardware design, encompassing board development, validation, and debugging (through projects or internships).
• 1+ year of experience with schematic entry and CAD design tools (Cadence Concept and Allegro preferred, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency in hardware design fundamentals (CPU/microcontrollers (x86), memory, PCI, I2C, USB, and power design).
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (Ethernet and IP).
• Experience with Cadence Concept and Allegro.
• Understanding of CPU memory architecture.
• Skill in using electrical design and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative and team-oriented approach, with a commitment to continuous learning and growth.
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex technical information.
