Job Description: Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Modeling & Simulation Engineer
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer specializing in Modeling and Simulation of complex technical solutions. This role is within the Missiles and Fire Control business unit, working on the Orlando / ADSW / LRASM / LRASM CON program. The successful candidate will join a team supporting various contracts and internal research and development (IRAD) projects.
Responsibilities:
• Design and documentation of model and simulation requirements and architecture.
• Develop, verify, and validate complex models and simulations, including missile 6-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulations and effects-based simulations.
• Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments, verifying system and subsystem-level requirements.
• Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities.
• Support ground and flight test efforts, including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities.
• Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and external customers.
Required Qualifications:
• U.S. Citizenship (required for security clearance).
• Willingness to work onsite in a classified area or lab environment.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, physics, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or a similar field.
• Proficiency in C++.
• Proficiency in either Matlab or Python.
• Demonstrated ability to perform one or more of the following GNC or M&S assignments based on coursework or professional experience:
• Develop and analyze algorithms (guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, servo control).
• Develop, verify, and validate complex vehicle models and simulations (e.g., missile 6-DOF simulations).
• Demonstrate strong math skills (linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, coordinate transformations).
• Strong written/verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Desired Skills:
• Proficiency with Python and Linux.
• Experience with Agile development.
• Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post-flight verification analyses.
• Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements.
• Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and software version control (e.g., Git).
Security Clearance: This position requires a government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is mandatory. A Secret clearance with an investigation or CV date within 5 years is needed.

Work Schedule: 4×10-hour days, 3 days off per week (onsite).
