Job Description

This is a Guest Services Paid Intern position at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, UT. The primary purpose of this role is to assist the Guest Services Team by helping with software and computer troubleshooting and facility requests. The intern is also responsible for ensuring that Discovery experiences and computer equipment are functioning correctly during business hours.

Key details of the position:
Duration: Anticipated to last one year (12 months).
Hours: Part-time, up to 28 hours per week.
Status: Hourly, non-exempt, and paid internship.
Schedule: Work shared across weekdays, weeknights, and Saturdays.
Location: On-site at 35 N West Temple St, Salt Lake City, UT, 84103, US.

Core Responsibilities include:
Opening and closing the Family History Library on weeknights and weekends, including acting as the on-duty supervisor for emergency and security needs when assigned.
Assisting guests with various technical issues such as computers, account sign-in, word processing problems, and internet connectivity.
Reporting facility problems.
• Ensuring copy machines and vending machines are supplied and functioning.
Staffing the Guest Services window to manage lost and found items and library donations.
• Being on-call to assist guests while on duty.
Training and supervising volunteers.
• Working on other special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Must be currently seeking a bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, computer science, family history, or another relevant degree, OR have obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree within the last 12 months.
Technical Skills: Good technology, computer skills, and troubleshooting ability.
Software Proficiency: Skilled in the use of Word, Outlook, and Excel. Knowledge of other computer programs is desirable.
Language: Ability to communicate, read, and write in English is required.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Work Ethic: Must be reliable and able to work independently.
Religious Requirement: Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.

Preferred, but not required, Qualifications:
• Experience with FamilySearch, Family Tree, and Indexing.
