Industrial Sales Account Manager Trainee – Development Program | GHX Industrial, LLC
The Tone:
This is a full-time, entry-level role with GHX Industrial, LLC, offering a unique opportunity within their “Grow Our Own (GO2)” Industrial Sales Development Program. Training will commence in Houston, TX, and Lake Charles, LA, followed by relocation to an assigned sales territory. GHX Industrial, a SunSource company, is a well-established and expanding organization, with a heritage dating back to 1937. As a highly recognized value-added distributor and fabricator of industrial gaskets and hoses, GHX serves a diverse customer base, including large refining and petrochemical clients, upstream oil and gas companies, OEMs, and mineral and mining enterprises nationwide. This program is specifically designed to launch the careers of recent graduates, preparing them to become full-time Industrial Sales Account Managers by providing comprehensive training, practical experience, and dedicated mentorship within a supportive environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Training: Participate in a structured 12-to-18-month development program, including 60 days at the GHX headquarters in Houston, TX, followed by 10 months at the Lake Charles, LA office.
• Mentorship: Receive ongoing mentorship and professional development from experienced leaders within the company.
• Product Knowledge: Acquire in-depth product training on industrial gaskets and hoses.
• Sales Skill Development: Learn full-cycle outside sales techniques and strategies essential for industrial sales.
• Customer Engagement: Work alongside experienced Account Managers on joint sales calls, actively building relationships with new and existing customers.
• Problem Solving: Address real-world customer challenges by providing effective technical and product-based solutions.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate degree or technical training in a related field is the minimum requirement for this entry-level development program, which is ideal for recent graduates. A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Distribution, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, or another related field is strongly preferred.
• Experience: While this is an early career role, prior internship or co-op experience gained within a sales, distribution, or manufacturing environment is considered a valuable asset and preferred qualification.
• Skills: Candidates must demonstrate a clear mechanical interest and aptitude; possess strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with an outgoing, friendly, and approachable personality to effectively build and maintain relationships with peers and potential customers. A competitive nature, a passion for winning, and a commitment to delivering top results in a performance-based environment are essential. Furthermore, a willingness to relocate for the structured training period and for the final placement in an assigned sales territory upon successful completion of the program is required.
• Bonus: Relevant coursework, training, or certifications in specialized areas such as Fluid Power, Fluid Process, or Fluid Conveyance are highly advantageous.
