Job Description: Grocery Clerk
The Grocery Clerk role focuses on creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintaining a safe and clean environment. You will assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Help customers discover new products and answer their inquiries.
• Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items.
• Check product quality and freshness, review “sell by” dates.
• Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained.
• Maintain temperature logs.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and answer customer questions.
• Create a welcoming and appreciated environment for customers.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
