Job Description
This is a challenging graduation assignment for a HBO or WO Organic Chemistry student looking to develop sustainable UVgel inks for inkjet printing applications.
Your Assignment:
Canon UVgel technology is specifically developed for advanced printing based on UV curing principles. This technology retains the advantages of prevailing printer technologies while eliminating many of the compromises. One of the successful products is our recently released Colorado series.
In the context of sustainability, more eco-friendly inks are desired. We are developing a new generation of UVgel inks with integrated functions. With this new technology, we aim to broaden the application fields of our products ranging from high-quality graphics to sustainable packaging.
Your assignment is to synthesize a range of functional polymers, e.g., of various molecular weights or with different monomers. You will evaluate the effectiveness of the syntheses by analytical techniques such as NMR and IR spectroscopy. The functionality in the polymers will then be used for crosslinking via photopolymerization, and you will correlate the properties of the functional polymers to the properties of the crosslinked material.
Your Profile:
• You have a research background in chemical synthesis, preferably polymer synthesis.
• You are experienced with materials characterization, for instance by DSC or IR spectroscopy.
• You are a result-driven and self-motivated team player.
• You can start between May and October 2024 and are available for 5-9 months for a minimum of 4 days per week.
What’s in it for you?
• A challenging assignment with skilled coaching
• Internship/Graduation compensation up to €500,- per month
• Travel cost compensation if you don’t have an ‘OV-weekcard’
• The possibility to network with professionals inside and outside your field of expertise, thanks to our diversity of disciplines which you will work with
• With our company values collaboration, innovation, and ownership, we strive to bring out the best in each other, expand boundaries, and feel empowered to take ownership of our work.
