Job Description
This internship opportunity is for students looking for a graduation assignment in ink development.
The Challenge:
Canon aims to transform its ink development process from a pragmatic, screen-based approach to a model-based system. This involves collaborating with the University of Amsterdam to create complex kinetic models that accurately reflect the chemical processes occurring during the conversion of monomers to polymers in UV-curable inks.
Your Role:
• Bridging the gap: You will design and execute smart experiments to bridge the gap between the simplistic model-ink recipes and the real inks used in Canon’s UVgel technology.
• Computer simulations: You will use your programming skills to run computer simulations that help analyze the data from your experiments.
• Analytical testing: You will utilize analytical techniques like NMR and IR spectroscopy to characterize the materials and validate the models.
This internship offers the opportunity to:
• Work in a professional environment: Gain real-world experience at a large company, Canon Production Printing.
• Network with professionals: Connect with experts in various fields within Canon and beyond.
• Contribute meaningfully: Play a significant role in advancing Canon’s research and development efforts in UV-curable ink technology.
Requirements:
• Academic background: A strong foundation in polymer chemistry research.
• Technical skills: Proficiency in materials characterization techniques like NMR, IR, and rheometry.
• Programming expertise: Experience with Matlab coding.
• Personal qualities: Result-oriented, self-motivated, and a team player.
• Availability: Minimum of 4 days per week for 5-9 months.
Benefits:
• Challenging assignment: Gain valuable knowledge and skills under the guidance of experienced professionals.
• Financial compensation: Internship/graduation compensation of €500,- per month.
• Travel cost reimbursement: If you don’t have an “OV-weekcard.”
• Networking opportunities: Connect with professionals across various disciplines within Canon.
• Growth and development: Contribute to a culture that values collaboration, innovation, and ownership, enabling you to grow and take initiative.
