Graduate Student Research Assistant – Office of Institutional Research
This job offers a unique opportunity for a graduate student to gain valuable professional experience in higher education research. The Graduate Student Research Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the ULV Office of Institutional Research, contributing to data-informed decision-making and the university’s mission through a variety of analytical, reporting, and research tasks related to institutional effectiveness.
The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented graduate student with strong analytical skills and a genuine interest in learning more about institutional research and the strategic role of data within higher education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with data analysis projects to support institutional effectiveness initiatives.
- Contribute to the generation of various reports, providing insights for data-informed decision-making.
- Support research tasks related to higher education trends and institutional performance.
- Query relational databases using SQL to extract and manipulate data.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel for data organization, analysis, and presentation.
- Collaborate effectively within a small team environment while also demonstrating the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of SQL.
- Demonstrable experience with querying relational databases using SQL.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment.
- Strong initiative and a desire to learn.

- Solid analytical skills.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position structured to accommodate a graduate student’s academic commitments.
- Days: Mondays through Fridays
- Hours: 8am – 5pm (within this window)
- Maximum Hours: Up to 20 hours per week
