Job Description
Position Title: Graduate Public Policy Research Associate
Team/Department: Walmart’s Global Public Policy Team and the PolicyLab.
Role Purpose: This is a temporary associate position designed to provide research, logistical, and strategic support to Walmart’s Global Public Policy Team and the PolicyLab. The Walmart PolicyLab serves as an incubator for ideas that bridge the public, private, and non-profit sectors, aiming to operationalize Stakeholder Capitalism.
Duration: This is a summer temporary associate role, available for 3 individuals. The engagement will run from June to August, totaling 10 weeks, with a commitment of 40 hours per week.
Location: This position requires a full-time, onsite presence in Washington, D.C. The primary location is specified as 80 M St, Se, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20003-3544, United States of America.
Key Responsibilities (“What You’ll Do”):
• Secure advocacy opportunities and manage logistics for various engagements.
• Submit comprehensive written reporting to Walmart executives.
• Carry out detailed stakeholder mappings in critical issue areas.
• Contribute to the successful execution of complex and time-sensitive deliverables and programs.
• Manage stakeholder engagement and outreach initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Skills (“What You’ll Bring” / “Minimum Qualifications”):
• Education: Candidates must be currently pursuing a Master’s degree in public policy or international affairs. A Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in social science, government, international relations, or business is a minimum prerequisite.
• Experience: Relevant globally oriented work experience is required, specifically in business or international relations within sectors such as the private sector, government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), trade associations, or similar entities.
• Relationship Management: Proven experience in cultivating and managing stakeholder relationships with a strong emphasis on trust and integrity.
• Communication Skills: Excellent research and communication skills are essential for this role.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Compensation:
• The hourly wage range for this position is $25.00 – $46.00.
• The actual hourly rate will meet or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
