Henry Ford Jackson Hospital is a distinguished 420-bed facility, recognized as a Level II Trauma Center and proudly holding Magnet designation, a testament to its commitment to nursing excellence and patient care.

Residency Tracks Provided:

  • Medical / Surgical: Develop fundamental nursing skills across a diverse patient population.
  • Acuity Adaptable Tower (Progressive Care): Gain experience caring for patients requiring a higher level of monitoring and intervention than general medical-surgical units.
  • Emergency Department: Thrive in a fast-paced environment, honing critical assessment and intervention skills for acute and emergent conditions.
  • Behavioral Health: Provide compassionate care to patients with mental health needs, focusing on therapeutic communication and specialized interventions.

Program Hire Date: Monday, June 1, 2026

This is a Full-Time, Benefit-Eligible Position. A Sign-On Bonus is offered, with the amount varying based on the specific residency area.

Program Overview:

The Henry Ford Health Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive twelve-month initiative meticulously designed to facilitate the transition of novice nurses from an entry-level advanced beginner to a competent, professional registered nurse. The program is expertly facilitated by both academic and clinical faculty/preceptors who are deeply committed to fostering the progressive development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills among residents.

The Nurse Residency program is dedicated to empowering novice nurses to deliver safe, high-quality care within a collaborative, interprofessional healthcare team environment. Residents will receive extensive support through various mechanisms, including:

  • Peer groups for shared learning and support.
  • Competency reviews to ensure skill proficiency.
  • Workshops focusing on advanced topics and practical skills.

As a nurse resident, you will interpret the philosophy and goals of Henry Ford Health to others in the work setting, ensuring alignment with organizational values. You will function within established guidelines and demonstrate the ability to work effectively and cultivate therapeutic relationships with patients, their families, and other professional and supportive personnel involved in patient care. Furthermore, nurse residents are expected to actively participate in identifying solutions for variances from patient goals and engage in the implementation of these solutions to promote optimum patient outcomes.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Less than six (6) months of experience in a related area of nursing practice.
  • Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program within 3 years of hire.
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within 5 years of hire.

Licensure / Certifications Required:

  • Successfully passes NCLEX-RN and holds an active, unrestricted license within 60 days of hire.
  • Note: If unsuccessful in obtaining an RN license, the Nurse Resident will be eligible to apply for a Nursing Assistant position until the RN license is obtained.

Preferred Requirements:

  • BLS Health care provider certification preferred. Successful completion is required within orientation.
