### Job Summary

This exceptional 6-month internship program is meticulously designed to prepare a new Graduate Nurse for a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse (RN) within the highly specialized Pediatric Cardio-Thoracic Unit (PCTU). The program features a comprehensive orientation that blends classroom instruction with extensive precepted clinical experience, ensuring a robust foundation for critical care nursing.

Upon successful completion of the internship, a two-year commitment to the PCTU is required, involving a minimum of 36 hours per week. Shift assignments after the internship will primarily be Nights, consisting of both 8 and 12-hour shifts.

### Responsibilities & About the Pediatric Cardio-Thoracic Unit (PCTU)

The Pediatric Cardio-thoracic Intensive Care Unit (PCTU) at Mott Children’s Hospital is a state-of-the-art 20-bed tertiary care center. We proudly serve a diverse patient population, receiving referrals from across the state, region, nation, and even internationally. The PCTU specializes in the medical and surgical care of infants, children, adolescents, and adults grappling with congenital and acquired heart disease.

As a PCTU nurse, you will operate in a technology-intensive environment, managing complex equipment such as:
ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
VADs (Ventricular Assist Devices)

You will be required to perform complex physiologic patient assessments in a high-intensity setting, caring for high-acuity patients with rapidly changing statuses. Our patients undergo the most progressive surgical and catheterization interventions available. Our nursing staff collaborate closely and effectively with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and fellows, providing crucial individual support and education to both families and patients throughout their intensive care unit admission.

Hourly Range for Registered Nurses: $41.78 – $64.81/hour

Shift Differentials:
• Evening Shift Differential: $3.00/hour
• Night Shift Differential: $4.00/hour
• Day Shift Weekend Differential: $2.90/hour
• Evening Shift Weekend Differential: $5.90/hour
• Night Shift Weekend Differential: $6.90/hour
• Charge Nurse Differential: $1.00/hour

Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is initially set at Nursing Framework LEVEL C. The actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and corresponding salary will be determined at the time of hire, with levels ranging from A to F based on experience and qualifications.

### Required Qualifications
To be considered for an interview and this position, candidates MUST meet the following qualifications:

MUST be able to start on March 12, 2026.
• Must be a Graduate Nurse or a Newly Licensed RN who has not previously practiced as a Registered Nurse.
• Applicant must have successfully completed an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
Successful completion of the NCLEX examination is mandatory and must occur no later than 45 days from the individual start date.
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification is required (or must be obtained within six (6) months of the date of hire or prior to the end of the probationary period).

### Work Schedule

Hours per week: 36 hours
Shift/Hours/Days: Primarily Night shift, involving both 8 and 12-hour shifts. This includes working Monday through Friday and rotating weekends.
Location: Mott Children’s Hospital – Pediatric Cardio-Thoracic Unit (PCTU)
Floating: All new employees will be expected to float to designated unit(s) during times of low census.
