About the Company:
The company is a Salesforce team focused on GovCloud, a production engineering environment serving U.S. federal, state, and local government customers. The GovCloud Service engineering team is responsible for the continuous delivery of services, onboarding new products and customers, and collaborating with internal teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines. The team works with large-scale production infrastructure within third-party cloud service providers and focuses on automating processes. They describe themselves as highly innovative and creative, composed of developers, open-source committers, and architects.
Job Description: GovCloud Service Engineering Internship
This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment supporting U.S. government clients. Interns will participate in various aspects of the DevOps lifecycle, including:
• Service Deployments: Interacting with development teams, observing large-scale change controls, and participating in the change delivery process.
• Automation and Reporting: Rapidly developing code (primarily interpreted languages like Python) for automation and reporting tasks.
• Software Development: Working alongside experienced developers on existing and new code projects.
• Infrastructure Problem Solving: Using code (with an emphasis on reusability) to solve infrastructure challenges, including building compute capacity and working with Kubernetes deployments at scale.
• Project Leadership: Leading key projects in the design, development, and post-release support of Salesforce platforms and tools used by internal teams.
• CI/CD Optimization: Collaborating with internal teams to improve automated CI/CD pipelines and address production issues.
• Process Automation: Transforming manual processes into automated governance solutions.
• Documentation: Creating and maintaining detailed technical documentation.
• Collaboration: Working with various infrastructure teams across Salesforce, developing collaboration and influence skills.
• Tool Research and Development: Identifying and implementing appropriate tools, or creating new tools if needed.
Required Qualifications:
• U.S. Citizenship (no dual citizenship) and ability to meet government security clearances. This includes a Criminal Justice Information Services screening with a fingerprint scan and verification of citizenship using two REAL ID Act documents (U.S. Passport, Passport Card, REAL Driver’s License, Global Entry Card, U.S. Government CAC/PIV). Completion of a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) for a Moderate Public Trust position is required.
• Currently enrolled in and working towards a BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field. Must be returning to school the following quarter/semester.
• North American college or university attendance.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Experience with Kubernetes.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Terraform.
• Experience with Spinnaker.
• Experience with Jenkins.
• Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals.
