Global Sourcing Manager – Logistics Purchasing & AI/ML Analytics | General Motors

What You’ll Actually Do
Strategic Logistics Sourcing: Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for assigned logistics categories, lanes, regions, and service providers, leading RFQs, bid events, market analyses, negotiations, and contract implementation while balancing cost, quality, service, and resilience.
Supplier & Contract Management: Build productive relationships with diverse logistics suppliers including carriers, rail/ocean providers, and freight forwarders, monitoring performance against contracts and SLAs, leading KPI reviews, and managing renewals, amendments, claims, and commercial issue resolution.
AI/ML-Enabled Freight Analytics: Build repeatable data models, dashboards, and tools to improve freight cost, sourcing, and supplier performance management by consolidating and normalizing data across various modes, rates, invoices, and service events.
AI/ML Application & Governance: Apply AI/ML for forecasting, optimization, anomaly detection, pattern recognition, and decision support to surface sourcing opportunities and reduce manual work, ensuring appropriate governance, access controls, explainability, and human review for purchasing decisions.
Logistics Learning & Leadership: Develop working knowledge of rail, ocean, truck, haulaway, and other logistics services, understanding how they are planned, purchased, measured, and executed, and connect sourcing decisions to operational performance, inventory flow, and customer service.

The Must-Haves
Background: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, procurement, business, finance, computer science, data science, engineering, AI/ML, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience (excluding internships) in purchasing, strategic sourcing, supply chain, logistics, program/product management, account management, engineering/product development, data/analytics, or a related discipline, with specific experience managing complex data, developing analytical solutions, or applying automation, AI/ML, or other technology to business problems.
Skills: Strong analytical, commercial, financial, negotiation, project-management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret contracts, pricing structures, and performance data; strong data judgment for objective analysis; informative communication and relationship management with executives, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders; results focus, workload management, and a willingness to learn logistics through operational exposure and collaboration.
Bonus: Experience sourcing transportation, freight forwarding, warehousing, containers, or other supply chain categories; experience with logistics management (TMS), transportation management, supply chain planning, ERP/procurement systems (like SAP), business intelligence tools, SQL, Python, cloud data platforms, or machine-learning frameworks; knowledge of transportation cost structures, rate/tariff models, fuel surcharges, or contract law as applied to purchasing; Master’s degree in a related field; experience leading cross-functional transformation, digital procurement, or enterprise-scale analytics initiatives.
