Global Powertrain Engineering Internship – Summer 2026

Requisition Summary:
As a Powertrain Integration Intern at PACCAR, you will play a crucial role in supporting cross-functional engineering teams dedicated to developing PACCAR’s next-generation powertrain systems. This dynamic position blends systems engineering, requirement development, and hands-on data analysis to ensure the seamless integration of components into complete vehicle platforms.
You will be responsible for analyzing technical data, evaluating system interactions, identifying trends, and supporting issue resolution through structured, analyst-type workflows. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will contribute directly to program deliverables and gain deep exposure to PACCAR’s processes for designing, validating, and launching advanced powertrain technologies.

About Global Powertrain:
The Global PACCAR Powertrain organization is responsible for designing and developing integrated, high-efficiency engines, automated transmissions, and axle systems for Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF trucks. This is supported by essential functions such as testing, validation, and aftersales service. Through advanced engineering, vertically integrated manufacturing, and robust aftermarket support, the organization delivers powertrain solutions optimized for performance, durability, fuel efficiency, and sustainability. As part of this global, cross-functional team, you will collaborate to deliver innovative engineering solutions that maximize customer uptime and drive operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret systems, component, and subsystem specifications for powertrain systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams across organizations to align on performance targets, interfaces, and technical dependencies.
- Draft technical requirements for components and subsystems and drive alignment with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support powertrain integration activities, including testing, data analysis, issue tracking, and system behavior evaluation.
- Learn and apply PACCAR’s Product Creation Process (PCP) and contribute to program tollgate deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Expected graduation between December 2026 – June 2028.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a foundational understanding of automotive systems and subsystems (e.g., engines, transmissions, driveline, cooling systems).
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or CAN analysis tools.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear technical documentation and present engineering concepts.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00/hour (varies by undergraduate and graduate degree).
