Requisition Summary

As a Powertrain Integration Intern, you will support cross-functional engineering teams in developing PACCAR’s next-generation powertrain systems. This role combines systems engineering, requirement development, and hands-on data analysis to help ensure seamless integration of components into complete vehicle platforms.

You will analyze technical data, evaluate system interactions, identify trends, and support issue resolution through structured, analyst-type workflows. Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll contribute directly to program deliverables and gain deep exposure to how PACCAR designs, validates, and launches advanced powertrain technologies.

What to Expect

  • Internship Type: In-person
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours a week
  • Duration: Minimum of 12 weeks
  • Location: Lewisville, TX (Please note: Initial location mentioned as Bellevue, WA, US, 98004, but “What to Expect” specifies Lewisville, TX)
  • Start Dates: May 18, 2026, or June 22, 2026

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret systems, component, and subsystem specifications for powertrain systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across organizations to align on performance targets, interfaces, and technical dependencies.
  • Draft technical requirements for components and subsystems and drive alignment with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support powertrain integration activities which include testing, data analysis, issue tracking, and system behavior evaluation.
  • Learn and apply PACCAR’s Product Creation Process (PCP) and contribute to program tollgate activities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field (graduation expected December 2026 – June 2028).
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Foundational understanding of automotive systems and subsystems (e.g., engines, transmissions, driveline, cooling systems).
    • Familiarity with engineering tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or CAN analysis tools.
    • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear technical documentation and present engineering concepts.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00/hour (pay varies by undergraduate and graduate degree).
  • Retirement: SIP 401k with up to a 5% company match.
