Job Description
Position: Global Information Reporting (GIR) Senior Manager
Practice: International Tax
Location: West Coast, based out of any of their West Coast locations
Responsibilities:
• Lead and Manage GIR Projects: Oversee advisory and compliance projects related to Global Information Reporting.
• Consult and Advise Clients: Provide guidance on U.S. back-up withholding, nonresident alien, FATCA, and CRS reporting and withholding requirements for various arrangements, including complex cross-border transactions and mergers and acquisitions.
• Monitor Legislative and Regulatory Developments: Stay informed about changes impacting reporting and withholding requirements, and draft thought leadership on the impact of these changes.
• Review Tax Information Returns: Review tax information returns prepared by staff, including IRS Forms 1042, 1042-S, 1099, Foreign Bank Account Reports, FATCA, and CRS reports.
• Support RSM Teams and Member Firms: Provide support nationally on GIR-related projects and issues, and develop service offerings for dissemination to teams or business units.
• Drive Growth and Expansion of GIR Services: Be a key driver in expanding GIR services throughout the firm.
• Generate Revenue and Profitability: Increase revenue and profitability for the GIR practice by generating sales for existing clients, identifying new leads, developing relationships with new clients and prospects, drafting RFP responses, proposals, and leading pursuits nationally.
• Lead Practice Development: Develop and implement marketing and growth strategies, and execute firm plans and goals.
• Manage and Mentor Staff: Manage and mentor staff and managers, conduct annual performance reviews, and serve as a performance advisor to members of the GIR team.
• Establish Project Plans: Define steps, responsibilities, and timelines for GIR projects and compliance efforts.
• Research and Drafting: Conduct heavy research and draft or review tax memorandums, tax protests, and other correspondence related to tax information reporting and withholding issues.
• Internal Training and Client Workshops: Lead internal training sessions and client educational workshops on FATCA, CRS, and other information reporting and withholding topics upon request.
• Review Research Findings: Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards.
• Build Relationships: Build strong relationships across lines of business to ensure excellent client service through an integrated service approach.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related business field.
• Certifications: Active CPA, EA, or JD with State Bar.
• Experience:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in tax information reporting and withholding in a corporate, public accounting, or law firm environment (Big 4 experience preferred).
• Minimum 7 years of experience managing tax professionals.
• Knowledge: Strong knowledge of IRC Chapters 3, 4, and 61 with the ability to consult and advise on related issues.
• Skills: Proven ability to generate and manage revenue, oversee closing and execution of deals, develop and implement policies and procedures, design and document detailed process flows, resolve issues quickly, and possess strong management skills.
• Travel: Requires domestic and international travel up to 15%.
Compensation:
• Salary Range: $145,600 – $292,600.
• Bonus: Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
