About Job Description (Geomatics Intern – Fall 2025)

This is a paid internship opportunity for college students, based in the Gainesville, FL, office, designed to bridge the gap between academics and the professional work environment. The program aims to provide a well-rounded learning experience, enhancing classroom education with hands-on experience on real projects for WGI’s private and public clients. Interns will develop skills to navigate everyday work scenarios and discover potential career paths within WGI.

Responsibilities:
• Working on challenging projects that require collaboration within and among various departments.
• Contributing to team projects and individual tasks assigned within the discipline (Geomatics).
• Being punctual, dependable, and adhering to company policy and guidelines.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on experience.

Requirements:
• Must be currently enrolled in a surveying or closely related college program.
• Solid PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Must be able to adapt to and work in varied environments, including indoors, outdoors, and at project locations.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis; WGI is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas.

Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to perform essential functions successfully. Work is primarily performed in an office setting.
Computer Use: Hand-eye coordination is necessary for operating a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Use of a telephone headset for virtual communication (Zoom, Microsoft Teams) is expected.
Postural: Often required to sit for prolonged periods.
Manual Dexterity: Use hands/fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Communication: Ability to speak and hear.
Vision: Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
