Job Description: Gensler Summer Fellowship

This is a full-time, paid summer internship program running from June 3rd to August 1st, 2025. The program offers unparalleled learning and networking opportunities. Fellows will work on real project work and research, contributing to Gensler’s global initiatives. The focus is on research and thought leadership to drive new thinking and approaches for a better future, specifically in redefining the future of cities.

Fellows will contribute to Gensler’s research initiatives, helping to unlock innovative solutions and address challenges in urban design. The work is described as vital for the firm’s mission.

Gensler seeks ambitious candidates with a design background and a passion for tackling complex problems using unconventional insights. Ideal candidates are:

• Students or recent graduates who inspire others and offer fresh perspectives.

• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet at least one of these educational criteria:

• Undergraduate: Entering their final year (Fall 2025) in a relevant degree program.
• Graduate: Enrolled in a graduate degree program in a relevant field.
• Recent Graduate: Graduated in Dec 2024 or Spring 2025 from a relevant program.

An accredited degree (NAAB, CIDA, where applicable) is preferred. A professional or educational background in the design of the built environment (architecture, interior design, urban design, etc.) is required. Candidates should also possess:

• Interest in research.
• A strong academic background.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong graphic and persuasive writing skills.
• Familiarity with research methodologies and processes.
• Interest in user research, design strategy, and space programming.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Basic skills in AutoCAD and/or Revit (3D and multimedia skills are a plus).
• Hand-sketching ability (a plus).

Application Process:

The application is two-part:

Part I: An online application via Gensler’s careers site, including resume and portfolio.
Part II: Submission of a portfolio (3-4 curated work samples, PDF, 10MB max) and responses to essay questions (link provided separately).

The application period remains open until mid-March 2025, but applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The internship is paid at a rate of $23-$27.50 per hour, depending on location and year completed in the educational program.
