The Tone:
This is an internship at FedEx Dataworks, located in Memphis, TN, focusing on the development and application of Generative AI. As an intern, you will engage in projects designed to provide valuable, real-world experience directly related to your field of study. You will contribute to creating long-term solutions that significantly impact FedEx’s business operations and enhance the customer experience within a professional environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Implement: Implement and contribute to projects centered around Generative AI and broader artificial intelligence concepts within the FedEx Dataworks environment.
• Develop: Design, present, and deliver long-term Generative AI solutions that are intended to significantly impact FedEx’s core business processes or elevate the customer experience.
• Learn: Gain valuable, real-world experience and professional insights by actively working on impactful AI-related initiatives in a corporate setting.
• Engage: Participate in various company-sponsored networking events and community service activities to foster professional development and connections.
• Assist: Perform other assigned duties as needed, supporting the team and overall project objectives in a fast-paced environment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This internship is for a currently enrolled college student or a recent graduate (within six months of graduation) pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a similar quantitative discipline, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Experience: No prior professional work experience is required, making this an excellent opportunity for aspiring AI professionals to gain foundational industry exposure.
• Skills: A solid academic and practical foundation in Statistics, Data Structures, and Generative AI, complemented by strong interpersonal communication, effective time management, organizational abilities, and clear verbal and written communication skills across various business units.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and PySpark; demonstrated experience with data structures and handling big data; and a strong understanding of machine learning principles, AI algorithms, and large language models (LLMs).
