General Manager | Prime Storage

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Prime Storage, located in Poway, CA. Prime Storage is a key part of Prime Group Holdings, LLC, a vertically integrated private equity real estate firm specializing in self-storage and other alternative real estate asset classes. As one of the largest private owners and operators of self-storage properties globally, with a portfolio of 320+ assets, Prime Group offers a robust platform. This General Manager role is crucial for leading the daily operations of a self-storage facility, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, driving sales, and maintaining the property to high standards. The position requires an energetic and professional team player who can build strong customer relationships and contribute to the firm’s culture of respect and accountability.

• Mission: Own the full spectrum of daily self-storage facility operations, from customer service and sales generation to collections and property maintenance, ensuring high occupancy and a secure environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Engagement: Deliver excellent customer interactions both in-person and over the phone to effectively meet tenants’ storage needs and build lasting relationships.
• Sales & Occupancy: Utilize creativity to generate sales and maintain high occupancy levels through effective advertising, customer relations, and understanding tenant requirements.
• Operational Management: Manage the full scope of daily operations, including handling collections, processing deposits, and responding to customer calls efficiently.
• Merchandise & Upselling: Actively sell merchandise, upsell insurance policies, schedule moving trucks, and cross-sell other Prime Storage facilities to maximize revenue.
• Property Upkeep: Maintain the facility’s “curb appeal” by ensuring it is consistently clean, safe, and secure, including performing minor maintenance and addressing areas of need.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is a management-level position requiring a High School diploma or GED. Candidates should have a background in a customer-facing environment with direct involvement in profit-and-loss management, unless recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience: Possess 2-4 years of relevant work experience in a customer-facing role. Must be technically savvy with the ability to quickly learn new applications and Point of Sale systems, alongside proficiency in Microsoft products like Outlook.
• Skills: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills for both in-person and phone interactions. Must be capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team, and physically able to perform routine maintenance duties, including lifting up to 50lbs. Possession of a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation is required, along with availability for travel and flexibility to work at various locations.
