General Manager | Retro Fitness

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Retro Fitness, located in Long Island, NY. Retro Fitness operates high-volume fitness clubs, focused on creating clean and safe environments where members feel a strong sense of community. This role is crucial as the General Manager will take full ownership of the club’s performance, lead the entire team, and establish the standard for the member experience, offering real ownership and the opportunity to build something meaningful.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports to a Regional Manager; leads teams across sales, fitness, and operations.
• Mission: Own the overall performance and member experience within the club.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations: Lead daily operations across sales, fitness, front desk, and club cleaning teams.
• Growth: Drive membership growth, personal training revenue, and member retention.
• Team Leadership: Build, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing club team.
• Standards: Ensure and reinforce Retro Fitness standards through daily example, coaching staff, and engaging members.
• Management: Manage club schedules, ensure payroll accuracy, track key metrics, and manage the club to budget.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager-level professional with a background in leading teams and managing high-volume business operations.
• Experience: 2-3 years leading teams of 5-15 people; 3-5 years in fitness, retail, or hospitality; proven experience driving sales and retention; comfortable owning performance metrics and budgets.
• Skills: Strong communication skills for in-the-moment coaching and correction; high accountability and hands-on leadership style; CPR certified or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Bonus: Experience managing a multi-department gym, a background in personal training sales, a track record of improving club performance, a desire for multi-unit leadership, or a Bachelor’s degree.
