General Manager I – Store 7962 Lanham, MD | Advance Auto Parts

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Advance Auto Parts, located in Lanham, MD. Advance Auto Parts is committed to helping customers succeed and growing the business with integrity through its 25,151-person organization. This role matters because it is crucial for inspiring the team, driving sales and service objectives, and ensuring the smooth operation of the store while fostering strong customer relationships. The General Manager is a key leader responsible for achieving financial metrics and maintaining service and appearance standards.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Exempt, minimum 50-55 hours per week (excluding meal breaks), typically 5-6 days a week, 11-hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends.
• Location: In-person, Lanham, MD
• Pay: $67600–$79400 yearly
• Team: Manages a team of 10-20 Team Members; assists District/Region.
• Mission: To inspire the team, help Customers succeed, grow the business with integrity, and achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives.
• Tech Stack: Store systems, POS systems, Parts lookup systems, inventory systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Achievement: Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives.
• Customer Relations: Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including building and holding teams accountable to executing Customer action plans.
• Team Leadership: Oversee selection, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling, and engagement of store Team Members.
• Operational Oversight: Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards.
• Customer Service: Coach all Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations for both DIY and Professional segments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager level. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Core domain knowledge in store systems, automotive systems, and parts knowledge.
• Experience: 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 Team Members in a retail environment. Proven financial and business acumen.
• Skills: Ability to achieve sales goals and service objectives, manage and grow customer relationships, recruit and develop quality team members, execute operational processes and procedures, and review and analyze P&L statements.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area, working knowledge of automotive systems, ability to speak Spanish, ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent, Microsoft PowerPoint proficiency, ASE Certification.
