About the Job: General Finance Internship – Controllership

This is a General Finance Internship position within the Controllership function of American Express Finance. The internship will be based in Phoenix, AZ.

How You Will Make an Impact in this Role:

As an intern, you will play a crucial role by:
• Completing a project aimed at solving a real business challenge for the organization.
• Participating in various other initiatives and projects as assigned.
• Assisting with monthly general ledger close activities, which includes completing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Aiding in the production and review of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
• Performing variance analysis and analytical procedures for assigned general ledger accounts.
• Establishing relationships and partnering with subject matter experts critical to Controllership accounting activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program.
• Have an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027.

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary Range: The expected hourly salary for this internship is $24.05 to $63.00, plus a sign-on bonus. The final compensation will consider location, experience, and other job-related factors.
• Employment Eligibility: Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required, as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
