Job Description

Position Summary

Samsung Ads is a rapidly growing advanced advertising technology company that empowers brands to connect with Samsung TV audiences. The company leverages comprehensive data to build a world-class advertising platform, operating on big, complex projects with global stakeholders and teams. Samsung Ads prides itself on a world-class organization built on an entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit, offering an environment for significant personal and professional growth.

Machine learning is at the core of the advertising industry, and at Samsung Ads, the Platform Intelligence (PI) team is at the forefront, actively exploring the latest deep learning and generative AI techniques. Their mission is to enhance existing systems, develop new products, and create new revenue streams, representing Samsung’s leadership in large-scale machine learning products.

As a GenAI & Agentic AI Intern focusing on Contextual Targeting, you will be involved in researching and developing advanced Agentic AI solutions. The goal is to enable near real-time content analysis and autonomous decision-making for ad placement and selection. This role involves leveraging Samsung’s proprietary data and cutting-edge generative AI technologies to build intelligent, context-aware systems that move beyond traditional fixed ad slot label-based contextual targeting. You will integrate these solutions with existing Samsung Ads systems, design rigorous experiments for performance measurement, and push the boundaries of autonomous AI agents in advertising. The internship offers collaboration with a talented engineering team and top-notch researchers in a unique learning culture, with an expectation for publications and patents.

Location: Mountain View, CA

Responsibilities

Research and develop advanced Agentic AI architectures that autonomously analyze content in real time and make intelligent ad placement and ad selection decisions.
Design and build GenAI-powered contextual understanding systems to extract rich semantic signals from multimedia content (video, audio, text, and metadata), enabling deeper contextual targeting beyond traditional fixed ad slot labels.
Develop autonomous AI agents capable of reasoning over contextual signals, advertiser objectives, and audience context to optimize ad-content alignment in real time.
Integrate Agentic AI solutions with existing Samsung Ads systems and infrastructure, ensuring seamless interoperability with current contextual targeting pipelines.
Design and execute rigorous experiments to evaluate and benchmark the performance of Agentic AI-based contextual targeting against existing fixed ad slot label-based approaches.
Explore cutting-edge techniques in multi-agent systems, tool-augmented LLMs, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to enhance contextual reasoning and decision-making capabilities.
Create quick prototypes and proof-of-concepts demonstrating the value of agentic and generative AI for next-generation contextual targeting.
Closely work with the machine learning engineering team to deploy new models and agent-based systems to generate real-world impact.
Publish research results in top venues and file patents.

Experience Requirements

PhD students in Computer Science or relevant fields.
Solid theoretical background in machine learning, natural language processing, and/or multi-agent systems.
Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar).
Thorough understanding of state-of-the-art generative AI techniques, including LLMs, vision-language models, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
Experience with building autonomous AI agents capable of planning, reasoning, tool use, and decision-making.
Proficiency in data structures, algorithms, and machine learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace Transformers, etc.).
Strong programming skills with Python.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Publications in relevant top venues (e.g., KDD, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR, WWW, etc.).

Preferred Experience Requirements

• Experience with multimodal content understanding (video, audio, image, and text analysis).
• Familiarity with advertising technology, contextual targeting, or recommendation systems.
• Knowledge of real-time inference systems and low-latency model serving.
• Basic knowledge about big data tools and data pipelines.
• Experience with multi-agent orchestration, reinforcement learning, or planning-based AI systems.
• Familiarity with evaluation methodologies for autonomous AI systems (e.g., human-in-the-loop evaluation, A/B testing frameworks).

Salary Range Pay Transparency

Compensation for this role, for candidates based in Mountain View, CA is expected to be between $42.00 – $61.00 per hour. Additionally, Samsung will provide a housing stipend of $1,800 per month during the internship program.
