CenterPoint Energy is seeking a Gas Transmission Integrity Engineer to join our team in Indiana/Ohio. This role is responsible for the identification, assessment, and mitigation of pipeline safety risks associated with the transmission system.
The Gas Transmission Integrity Engineer will execute the compliance requirements for the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP) as required by 49 CFR 192 Subpart O. Responsibilities include:
• Updating and maintaining the transmission pipeline risk modeling, including implementing or enhancing the risk model and providing updates to GIS to correct missing or incorrect data.
• Mining transmission asset data to analyze and determine applicable threats to the pipelines and schedule assessment and mitigation.
• Implementing procedures for material verification and maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP) reconfirmation. Managing population samples for material verification and developing remediation plans.
• Coordinating with Engineering and System Planning on the timing, tracking, and progress of transmission pipeline projects.
• Developing long-term infrastructure investment plans to address regulatory implications or record-keeping issues, such as pressure tests, replacements, and retrofits.
• Reviewing transmission work order documentation for traceable, verifiable, and complete records requirements.
• Performing all engineering analysis and technical support required for the TIMP program, including, but not limited to:
• Integrating historical TIMP assessments from Direct Assessment (ECDA and ICDA) and In-Line Inspections (ILI).
• Developing site-specific ILI plans and coordinating ILI runs, including field support.
• Calculating safe operating pressures for any anomalies found.
• Monitoring changes in high-consequence areas (HCAs), moderate consequence areas (MCAs), and class location, including monitoring activity in transmission rights-of-way from feedback through operations.
• Updating the assessment schedule and risk model as needed and performing class location change studies.
• Evaluating valve spacing and blow-off requirements.
• Performing purging calculations for transmission lines.
• Reviewing and approving transmission pipeline engineering designs to ensure compliance with all integrity requirements of the pipe and design.
• Providing support for DIMP/TIMP regulatory data requests and internal audits. Monitoring changes in state and federal pipeline safety regulation and adapting TIMP program requirements accordingly.
• Providing data for internal performance reporting and external performance reporting, including DOT Form PHMSA 7100.2.1 (Transmission Annual Report).
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, or other approved engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. A minimum of two years of experience in integrity management, compliance, utility design, or related project construction design is required.
