About the Job
– Be supervised and guided by the operation and maintenance of the distribution system in accordance with the plan, policies, and procedures.
– Provide customers with a safe and adequate energy supply.
– Coach and develop the Field Operations Team ensuring desired individual performance, desired team performance, and maintain a cohesive team environment.
– Participate as an effective team member of Field Operations that strategically supports company and corporate goals and objectives.
Essential Functions
– Observe, coach, develop employees, and improve individual and team performance by creating an environment that allows individuals and teams to contribute to their maximum potential.
– Conduct timely and effective performance discussions.
– Uphold the corporate affirmative action commitment and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
– Implement Field Operation’s strategic plan. Monitor plan results to ensure the highest level of customer-driven, safe, cost-effective, quality results that assure compliance with all internal and external codes, policy, procedures, and standards.
– Participate in Field Operations development of department goals, expense/capital budgets, and collective bargaining contract administration. Participate in a way that supports department, company, and corporate objectives, values, and services.
– Coordinate fleet maintenance and maintain an adequate supply of materials, equipment, tools, and supplies to complete work.
– Cost-effectively manages Field Operation activities to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. Initiate regular contact with internal and external customers to understand their needs and expectations and build positive relations. Resolve customer complaints in a timely and constructive manner.
– Implement and administer policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for customers, employees, and the general public. Includes supervising emergency situations, assuming weekly night callout as required, promoting safety awareness to employees, and assuring the availability of safety equipment to ensure the customer has an adequate and safe energy supply.
– Must report/respond to jobsites when emergencies occur any time of day, night, or weekend.
Education Description
– Requires a Business Administration Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent years of service and leadership experience.
Experience
– Requires 7 years of leadership experience in delivering and/or gas distribution or a related environment.
Physical Requirements
– Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
– Able to demonstrate and apply the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer and common office equipment.
– Able to operate a motor vehicle and drive a motor vehicle daily or for extended periods in a safe manner and enter/exit a vehicle unassisted.
Working Conditions
– Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy’s Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
– Able to be included in the random drug screen pool required for DOT safety-sensitive positions.
– Able to work indoors in an office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions, equipment, and noise when at field installation sites.
– Able to work regular hours, with occasional or mandatory overtime; may be required to work rotating shifts.
– Able to respond to emergency calls and/or callouts and occasionally return to work while off duty.
– Able to handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres on occasion.
