Job description

This role is for a Fund Accounting Internship within Alter Domus. The Fund Accounting business units serve as a third-party intermediary, working between fund managers and investors to verify and distribute assets tied to investments. These positions offer a valuable introduction to alternative investing and involve close interaction with clients.

Internship Timing: June 2, 2026 – August 6, 2026

Internships are open in the following groups for Summer 2026:

Real Estate: Locations include Carmel, Chicago, and Salt Lake City. This group involves property accounting alongside funds accounting, providing knowledge of Real Estate Investing and the Real Estate market.
Credit: Locations include Boston, Carmel, and Chicago. Primarily focuses on working with bank/syndicated loans and hedge funds.
Private Equity: Locations include Chicago, Ogden, and Salt Lake City. Primarily focuses on working with Private Equity.

Your Responsibilities:

• Prepare cash and journal entries bank reconciliations.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and period-end closings.
• Interact with clients through email and participation in calls.
• Participate in quarterly and annual audit functions.
• Process and track daily cash contributions and distributions for investment fund clients.
• Participate in Alter Domus Intern Programming focused on professional development, career progression, and presentation skills.
• Attend in-person and virtual networking events.

Your Profile (Requirements):

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a strong accounting focus, or possessing a previous accounting internship.
• Demonstrated strong interest in Fund Accounting as a career.
• Currently a Junior with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, learning agility, and collaboration skills.
• A customer-centric mindset.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work responsibly in a hybrid environment.
• Authorized to work in the US without the need for employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.
