Analyst, Institutional Fund Accounting | Northern Trust

• Mission: Responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and reconciling mutual funds and separately managed funds to determine the Net Asset Value (NAV) daily for institutional clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Determine: Net Asset Value (NAV) for defined contribution and defined benefit plans on a daily basis.
• Evaluate: Funds including mutual, separately managed, commingled, and collective funds, often compared against a benchmark, for daily valuation.
• Analyze: The impact of investment manager trading activity, income postings, accruals, and corporate actions on portfolio returns and option market values.
• Audit: And resolve exceptions on assigned accounts, including cash, holdings reports, price variances, expenses, expense accruals, and investment account activity, within scheduled timeframes.
• Assist: In the timely preparation of monthly and annual reports and financial statements, including annual 5500 reporting, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and performance standards.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred or relevant work experience in Fund Accounting or Mutual Fund Accounting. Basic knowledge of accounting, finance, and securities.
• Experience: Prior related experience in a business context, typically obtained through relevant coursework.
• Skills: Analytical skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, multi-tasking skills, ability to absorb information quickly, and capacity to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
• Bonus: Strong Excel skills and usage of Microsoft Power suites.
