Job Description: Full Time Structural Engineering Intern (Boston)
This is a full-time, temporary internship as part of WSP’s 12-week summer internship program, starting May 19th, 2025 (flexible start date possible). The internship is based in the Boston office and is open to undergraduate or graduate students. There is no relocation or housing assistance provided.
Responsibilities:
• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic structural engineering principles.
• Assist with project research, fieldwork, preliminary design calculations, and analysis.
• Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete assigned training tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
• Actively enrolled in an accredited structural engineering (or related) undergraduate program, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2026 or later.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Demonstrated interest in structural engineering and a strong desire to improve skills related to WSP’s work.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to take direction from leadership and mentors.
• Basic proficiency in technical writing, office automation software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven ability to maintain workplace safety and adhere to WSP’s policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Enrolled in an accredited structural engineering (or related) Masters or PhD program, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2026 or later.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Microstation, and Microsoft Office.
• Prior internship experience and campus leadership involvement.
