Job Description: Full-Time Internship Position

This is a full-time internship position designed for individuals seeking a challenging and rewarding environment to learn from industry experts. The intern will primarily be responsible for assisting Engineers and Project Managers on design and restoration projects. The role involves working closely with the local design team of Architects and Engineers and reporting to the local Director of Operations.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in on-site survey teams for existing facilities to diagnose deterioration causes, identify solutions, or confirm as-built conditions.
• Gain a holistic understanding of how various project elements contribute to a completed project.
• Actively contribute to project document preparation, including drawings and reports.
• Assist in the design of conventional project elements, specifically:
• ACI load combinations.
• Shear and moment diagrams.
• Calculating column loads considering load path.
• Foundation design (spread footings, piles, pile caps, drilled piers).
• Retaining wall design (cantilever and basement type).
• Concrete member design (slabs, beams, columns).
• Calculation organization and documentation.
• Utilize computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Participate in on-site condition assessment teams to determine causes and solutions of deterioration or confirm as-built conditions.
• Collect project-pertinent data, including surveys, codes, soils, and other required information.
• Visit job sites to observe construction and submit field reports to Project Managers as needed.
• Assist in reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Education Requirements:
• Must be a Junior or Senior level student (or Master’s student) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• An overall GPA of 3.25 or higher is required.
Preferred Coursework:
• Structural Analysis
• Reinforced Concrete
• Prestressed Concrete Structures
Other Requirements:
• Demonstrated strong computer, writing, communication, and team skills.
• Willingness to travel for field visits within the state.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Some experience using Revit/AutoCAD is preferred.
