Job Description: Franchise Development Intern

About the Role & Program:

This internship offers the opportunity to drive revenue for The Walt Disney Company by creating and managing franchise properties for Disney+, Disney Channel, and Disney Junior. The intern will be responsible for generating sales presentations, leading integrated planning, developing cross-departmental marketing strategies, and collaborating with various teams within the Walt Disney Company, including:

Internal stakeholders: Marketing, Consumer Products, Music, and Parks divisions
Content partners: Walt Disney Studios, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, 20th Century TV, and Disney Branded Television

What You Will Do:

Live Event Management: Play a key role in the development and execution of franchise integrated plans and strategies, with a focus on live event management, marketing support, and sales presentations.
Marketing Support: Assist with the development of marketing materials, presentations, and campaigns for franchise properties.
Sales Presentations: Develop and deliver compelling sales presentations to gain consensus from both internal and external stakeholders, primarily retail and licensees.
Project Management: Handle special projects such as Live Tours and Pop-Up events. Manage the creative approvals and project management grids for Museum and Mall attractions.
Franchise Management: Build and manage marketing/integrated planning decks, documents, and calendars for all kids’ franchise series. Coordinate communications between franchise and music, consumer products, programming, and marketing teams.
Music Selection and Clearance: Lead the selection and clearance of music for soundtrack and music video purposes.
Franchise Pitch Decks: Generate and maintain franchise pitch decks, including show/event presentations.
Communication Documents: Build and maintain important communication documents such as project management timelines, franchise newsletters, and research reports.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: Previous experience in licensing, consumer products, brand management, promotions, or retail businesses. A strong understanding of these areas is also beneficial.
Presentation Skills: Proficient in keynote skills, including the ability to conceptualize and construct compelling sales presentations for retailers or corporate executives.
Communication Skills: Strong salesmanship with polished presentation and public speaking skills.
Leadership: Professional under pressure and confident in the company of executives. Independent thinking with a consistent track record of driving projects to completion, overcoming obstacles, and influencing others to achieve goals.
Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the skill to work in a fast-paced environment with quick turnarounds and deadlines.
Initiative: Self-starter, driven to go above and beyond set by others.
Collaboration: Proficient at coordinating and facilitating meetings.
Passion: A passion for children’s entertainment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience: Experience in the television or entertainment business. Proven results in working on brands or franchises.
Knowledge: Knowledge of domestic or global kids TV business including ratings and research analysis.
Sales: Experience selling franchises or products to retail, advertising, or entertainment companies.
Music Industry: Interest and/or experience in the music industry is a plus.

Education:

Enrollment: Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program.
Recent Graduate: Must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at the time of application posting.
Current Disney Participant: Currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Entertainment/Business-Related Field

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:

Age: Be at least 18 years of age.
Prior Disney Experience: Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
Work Authorization: Possess unrestricted work authorization.

Additional Information:

Schedule: Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
Dates: The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 through June 2025.
Availability: Fully available for the duration of the internship, working 40 hours each week.
Housing: Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Burbank, CA area.
Transportation: Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work in the Burbank, CA area.

Compensation: The pay rate for this role in California is $22.00 per hour.
