NYAP has specific policies in place:

Job Description
• Job Title: Foster Care Intern
• Opportunity Type: Intern Opportunity
• Job Summary: This intern role is designed for a student currently enrolled in school and pursuing a degree. The intern will receive training on the process of licensing and opening new foster homes. Additionally, they will work directly with foster parents and youth associated with NYAP.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Responsibilities are variable and will be determined based on the specific agreement between the intern’s educational institution and NYAP.
• Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
• Minimum Qualifications:
• Current enrollment in an accredited educational program.
• The degree program must specifically be in Social Services or other Human Services fields (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Sociology).
• Specific qualifications will be determined based on the details of the individual internship.
• Proficiency in using standard office technology, including desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers.
• Proficiency in common software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
