Job Description: Food Science Research and Development Internship
This 12-week summer internship (May/June – August 2025) within Cargill’s Research and Development (R&D) function offers students with food science backgrounds the chance to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world business setting. Interns will contribute to solutions for Cargill’s customers.
Two project areas are available:
• Research: Focuses on applying scientific principles to enhance understanding of Cargill’s food ingredients within finished food systems. This involves using analytical chemistry and food material science to characterize ingredient functionality at the molecular level. The work supports the development of new Cargill ingredients or customers’ products.
• Applications: Involves lab or pilot work on customer finished food systems to meet specific customer needs and support the development of new Cargill ingredients or products.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Working on one or more substantive projects.
• Gaining hands-on experience in a major agribusiness company.
• Participating in orientation, networking events, mentoring, and personal/professional development opportunities.
• Receiving regular performance feedback.
• Presenting a summary of learnings and experiences to management and peers at the internship’s conclusion.
Locations: Plymouth, MN or Wichita, KS.
Program Details:
• Paid hourly ($24.00-$29.00/hour, depending on graduation date and full-time employment eligibility).
