Job Description:

Food Safety, Quality Chemist

Role:

Ensure products meet or exceed customer requirements for quality and food safety.
Apply knowledge of plant processes to monitor quality assurance systems.
Provide technical advice and support to production operations.

Responsibilities:

Assure product compliance with specifications and final product approval checks.
Conduct data analysis, identify trends, troubleshoot, implement corrective actions, and communicate findings.
Assess daily process quality parameters and food safety and quality systems, including cross-checks, raw materials, calibration, maintenance, procedures, food safety, training, auditing, and oversight of analytical testing.
Train new food safety and quality chemists, analysts, operators, technicians, and personnel from other functional areas.
Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Environment:

Industrial/processing plant environment.
Team-based, fast-paced, and hands-on.
Moderate amount of physical exertion required.
May involve other exertions, conditions, or exposures (i.e., heat, cold, wet environment).
May require working different shifts, including 12-hour rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation:

Expected salary: $65,000
May be adjusted based on geographic location.

Requirements:

Right to work in the U.S.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical science program (Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, or related) graduating between December 2023 and Summer 2025.
Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Geographically flexible to relocate to one of the listed locations.
Strong communication and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively in diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with email, spreadsheet, and word processing applications.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate change factors and formulate independent decisions.
Ability to anticipate, recognize, and seek process and laboratory problems and implement improvements based on findings.
