Food Safety, Quality Chemist Description:

This role is essential for ensuring Cargill’s products meet or exceed customer expectations for quality and food safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance: Monitor and ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards through:
Data analysis: Analyze processing data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and take corrective action.
System Assessment: Daily assessment of quality and food safety systems, including cross-checks, raw materials, calibration, maintenance, procedures, and training.
Auditing and Oversight: Conduct audits and oversee analytical testing in control rooms.
Technical Support: Provide technical advice and support to production operations to:
Optimize Quality: Ensure product quality, minimize process variation, and improve customer satisfaction.
Improve Efficiency: Reduce waste, minimize costs, and enhance process recovery.
Training: Train new employees in food safety and quality, including chemists, analysts, operators, and technicians.
Problem Solving: Handle basic issues and escalate complex problems to appropriate staff.
Other Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.

Work Environment:

Location: This role is located in an industrial/processing plant environment at one of the following locations: Blair, NE, Cedar Rapids, IA, Dayton, OH, Eddyville, IA, Fort Dodge, IA, Hammond, IN, or Wahpeton, ND.
Work Schedule: The position requires working a 12-hour rotating shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements: The role involves moderate physical exertion and may require working in various environments (heat, cold, wet).

Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is $65,000. The actual salary may be adjusted based on location.

Legal Status: Right to work in the U.S.
Education: Currently pursuing or have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical science program (e.g., Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, or related technical science degree) with graduation date between December 2023 and Summer 2025.
