Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Internship:
Cargill’s Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) internship offers students with a scientific background and interest in the food industry a chance to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world manufacturing environment. The program aims to equip interns with the skills and experience to become future leaders in the food industry by contributing to Cargill’s ongoing efforts to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient food products.
What you’ll do:
This internship program provides a comprehensive experience in various aspects of food manufacturing, including edible oil refining/packaging, protein production, and starches/sweeteners. You’ll be exposed to a range of FSQR programs, such as:
• Food Safety: You’ll learn about critical processes like HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and auditing procedures.
• Quality Assurance: You’ll gain experience in laboratory and instrumentation programs, including calibration, raw material inspection, and maintenance.
• Food Manufacturing: You’ll participate in pre-requisite programs and observe product inspection and disposition procedures.
• Supply Chain: You’ll learn about supplier and external manufacturing processes.
Your Primary Project: You’ll be assigned a primary project to complete throughout the summer, allowing you to develop professionally and contribute to Cargill’s goals. This project will likely involve tasks like:
• Final product approval and ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
• Daily assessment of process quality parameters and quality assurance systems.
• Data analysis, trend identification, troubleshooting, corrective action, and communication.
• Operation and maintenance of lab, control room, and in-process instrumentation.
• Disposal of hazardous wastes.
• Participation in process improvement projects, development and modification of procedures, and assistance with process start-ups.
