Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Associate Position
This role is designed for recent college graduates looking to kickstart their career in the Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR) field at Cargill. The program provides extensive on-the-job training to develop skills and knowledge essential for success in FSQR leadership roles.
As an FSQR Associate, you will:
• Gain in-depth knowledge of processing production, including GMPs, HACCP, food safety, quality, process control, and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor the processing activities of various departments within the facility.
• Conduct daily assessments of process quality parameters and food safety and quality systems.
• Analyze data, identify trends, and troubleshoot issues related to processing data, final product, and wastewater.
• Resolve product quality problems and work collaboratively with team members from various departments to ensure quality, food safety, and microbiological standards are met.
• Oversee and manage various food safety and quality programs at the plant.
• Participate in key FSQR projects and contribute to the development and implementation of FSQR/Micro procedures.
• Conduct FSQR assessments, sanitation assessments, and support corrective action teams.
• Provide backup assistance for FSQR professionals and supervisors.
• Effectively communicate FSQR and Micro results, including timely reporting of all quality assurance activities.
• Maintain accurate and pertinent information to ensure processes and products are food safe.
• Coordinate and monitor FSQR audits/reviews of operational systems.
• Cross-train in both FSQR and Micro functions, providing support for new employee training.
• Contribute to process improvement projects, develop and modify QA procedures, and assist with recruiting and interviewing new employees.
Environment:
FSQR roles are located in industrial/processing plant environments. The work environment is team-based, fast-paced, and hands-on, requiring a moderate amount of physical exertion. Depending on the location, the role may involve different shifts including 2nd and 3rd shift hours.

Various plant locations across the U.S. specializing in Beef Processing, Further Processed Meat, Ground Beef, and Eggs. Specific locations include: Butler, WI | Fort Morgan, CO | Fort Worth, TX | Hazleton, PA | Mason City, IA | Nebraska City, NE | Schuyler, NE | Wyalusing, PA. These locations may change based on business needs.
Qualifications:
• Right to work in the U.S.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical science program (e.g., Animal Science, Meat Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Biology).
• Graduation date between December 2023 – Summer 2025.
• Geographic flexibility to relocate to one of the specified locations.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English).
• Basic food safety knowledge with emphasis on HACCP, GMPs, labeling, food additives, sanitation, and food microbiology.
• Experience with statistical and quality management tools.
• Strong leadership and technical skills.
• Demonstrated ability in collaboration, communication, motivation, teamwork, and successful project completion.
• Moderate computer skills.
• Experience applying Continuous Improvement concepts.
