Job Description: Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) Associate
This is a development program designed to prepare recent university graduates for higher-level roles within Cargill’s FSQR department. The program provides extensive training to familiarize participants with plant operations and meat processing production, including good manufacturing practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), food safety, quality control, process control, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
• Training: Complete a comprehensive training program as outlined in the FSQR Associate training guide. Write weekly reports summarizing takeaways and submit them to the manager.
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve product quality issues, collaborating with various departments to ensure quality, food safety, and microbiological requirements are met.
• Project Management: Complete projects assigned by the FSQR leadership team.
• Documentation: Write FSQR/Micro procedures as needed. Conduct and document facility and processing area FSQR assessments, sanitation assessments, and support corrective action teams.
• Auditing & Compliance: Participate in committees and engagement activities. Provide backup assistance to FSQR Supervisor, Food Safety Specialist, or Microbiology Supervisor. Conduct pre-shipment reviews and product clearances. Communicate FSQR and Micro results effectively, including timely reporting of all quality assurance activities. Maintain all manufacturing, safety, FSQR, Prerequisite Programs (PRPs), and HACCP policies. Organize and maintain accurate information to ensure food safety. Coordinate and supervise FSQR audits/reviews of operational systems.
• Technician Support & Training: Supervise and train FSQR/Microbiology Technicians, covering equipment operation/calibration, aseptic techniques, and data management. Assist in training new FSQR/Micro employees.
• Other Duties: Perform other assigned duties.
Program Focus: The program emphasizes hands-on experience in protein processing production, primarily focusing on monitoring various department activities within the facility. Associates gain knowledge and skills necessary for leadership roles through exposure to all facets of business operations.
Required Qualifications:
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a technical science program (Animal Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field) and graduating between December 2024 and August 2025.
• Willingness to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Willingness and ability to relocate.
