FOIA Analyst | The Gilchrist Law Firm, P.A.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The Gilchrist Law Firm, P.A., located in the Washington DC-Baltimore Area. The firm specializes in supporting legal, administrative, compliance, and government-facing operations, emphasizing professionalism, accuracy, and service. This position is vital for supporting federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) operations, ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of requests in a high-volume environment. The role directly contributes to the Government’s FOIA mission requirements by managing sensitive records and adhering to statutory deadlines.

• Mission: This person owns the responsibility of accurately processing, tracking, coordinating, reviewing, administering, and managing Freedom of Information Act requests.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, electronic FOIA processing tools, e-discovery tools, FOIA tracking systems, records management systems, workflow management tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Request Management: Support the processing, tracking, review, coordination, and administration of incoming FOIA requests.
• Document Analysis: Review records for release under FOIA, assist with identifying responsive documents, and analyze information for casework.
• Case Tracking: Track deadlines, accurately document all case activity, and maintain meticulous records throughout the entire FOIA process.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate effectively with Government officials, legal counsel, program offices, and other internal or external stakeholders as necessary.
• Technology Utilization: Use FOIA tracking systems, records management systems, workflow management tools, e-discovery tools, and related technologies to manage requests and records.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate’s degree or equivalent experience is required, coupled with substantial experience in FOIA support services or similar analytical and administrative functions.
• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience performing FOIA support services and three (3) or more years in analytical and administrative support, with demonstrated ability to process and manage FOIA requests in a federal or comparable environment.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in processing records for FOIA release, strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat, experience with electronic FOIA processing tools, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong attention to detail and organizational ability to document casework accurately.
• Bonus: Prior experience supporting federal FOIA programs or large federal operations, expertise in processing complex or high-volume FOIA requests, strong technical proficiency with specialized FOIA systems, advanced FOIA training or certifications, and any supervisory or workflow management experience.
