About the Job Description
This role is for a Fluid Component Intern, based at Rocket Lab’s site in Long Beach, California. The intern will be an integral part of the Neutron team, specifically supporting the Fluid Components team.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:
• Hardware Procurement: Support the Neutron team in the acquisition of necessary hardware.
• Component Development: Drive the initial build and testing phases of fluid components.
• Qualification Testing: Perform crucial qualification tests to ensure components meet all functional requirements for flight readiness.
• Team Scope: The Fluid Components team is responsible for the design, sourcing, and manufacturing of all fluid components for both the Neutron rocket and the Archimedes engine.
• Mentorship and Growth: Interns will work closely with a dedicated mentor and other department employees, applying their academic knowledge to real-world challenges while developing both technical and professional skills.
• Professional Development: Engage in a fast-paced environment, attend frequent 1:1 sessions with mentors and supervisors for progress updates and support, and participate in tech talks and networking events with other interns and employees.

Success in this role is measured by the individual’s knowledge, experience, ability to lead development projects independently, and capacity for successful cross-team collaboration to deliver results.
Required Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree program in an engineering, physics, or math discipline.
• Must have at least one semester of school remaining after the internship concludes.
• A GPA of 3.0 or above.
• A minimum of 3+ months of applied engineering experience, which can include internships, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have):
• A GPA of 3.5 or above.
• 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM).
• Experience with CNC machines.
• 3D printing experience.
• Python experience.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Lathe experience.
• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
Logistics and Compensation:
• The internship requires full-time, on-site work for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks, commencing in August or September 2025.
• The pay range for this position in California is $28.00 USD Hourly.
• Interns may be eligible for a stipend to subsidize relocation costs.
