Job Description:
This is a Fleet Mechanic Internship position under the general direction of a designated supervisor. The incumbent will observe and assist with Fleet Mechanic tasks under controlled circumstances.
The purpose of the internship is to provide on-the-job exposure and experience to learn how to perform a variety of automotive technician duties. Students in this role may perform both routine and non-routine duties. The emphasis is on providing varied and meaningful learning experiences to the student while offering work assistance to the City.
Key aspects of the role:
• FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
• Safety Sensitive: No
• Level II Screening: No
• The intern will not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities During an Emergency Situation:
• Essential Employees: May be required to work during a declared emergency, potentially around the clock for several days on short notice.
• Non-Essential Employees: Will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee’s Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.
