Mutual of America Financial Group – Financial Reporting 2026 Summer Internship

Location: New York City

Duration: 8 weeks (Monday June 8th to Friday July 31st)

Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Department / Team Summary:

The Financial Reporting team at Mutual of America is critical for the preparation, accuracy, and quality of the company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. The department ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, statutory requirements, and internal control standards, while also supporting the company’s regulatory reporting obligations. This team fosters collaboration with various internal groups, including Accounting Operations, Investments, and Finance, to deliver timely and reliable financial information crucial for executive decision-making. Ultimately, Financial Reporting plays a vital role in upholding the company’s financial integrity and transparency.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries, ensuring accurate and thorough supporting documentation.
  • Conduct monthly financial statement analysis, which includes both account-level and trend reviews.
  • Assist actively in the monthly close process, involving data validation and report preparation.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly financial statements (Quarterly Statement) in compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Only rising Sophomores (expected graduation year May 2029) and rising Juniors (expected graduation year May 2028) will be considered.
  • A minimum overall GPA of 3.4 is mandatory.
  • Candidates must be able to commute to New York City four days a week (Monday – Thursday).
  • An Accounting or Finance major is preferred for this role.

Role Summary:

Mutual of America’s Summer Internship Program is designed to provide college students with valuable hands-on corporate experience through meaningful projects and assignments. Throughout the 8-week program, interns will benefit from direct guidance provided by experienced leaders within their assigned departments. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to attend dedicated training classes and participate in planned events alongside other interns, fostering a comprehensive and enriching learning environment.
