Position Overview (Financial Planning & Analysis / Financial Planning Systems Intern):
This position offers the selected candidate the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with NYPA’s Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Financial Planning Systems teams. The role supports financial analysis across all departments and sites, helping senior and executive leadership make informed decisions through economic, competitive, and cost-benefit evaluations. This role will also provide candidates with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), learning how to effectively leverage the tool while supporting future system integrations.

Program Details:

  • This is a paid 10-week Summer Developmental Internship program.
  • The program runs from June 2 – August 7, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in department-specific projects, analysis, research methods and learn project management skills.
  • Support the team in developing business solutions that contribute to NYPA’s VISION2030 strategic goals.
  • Research industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to the continuous improvement of NYPA’s programs.
  • Other projects as assigned; responsibilities will vary based on the focus area.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Provide positive customer service for internal and external stakeholders.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Enrollment in an associate’s, undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university is required.
  • Recent graduates are not eligible for this Developmental Internship program.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States for the duration of the internship from June 2 – August 7, 2026.

Physical Requirements:
Standard office environment. No specific physical requirements beyond typical office work are noted.

Compensation & Hourly Rates:
The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The hourly rate for this position is based on the level of education at the time the intern program begins:

  • Sophomore: $17.50/hour
  • Junior: $21.50/hour
  • Senior (or May 2027 graduate): $21.50/hour
  • Current graduate/law student: $24.50/hour
