What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Prepare recurring financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other key financial information, organizing them into clear, client-ready formats for small-business owners and leadership teams.
• Data Analysis: Calculate and monitor key financial metrics such as revenue growth, gross profit, labor costs, and cash flow, alongside operational metrics like utilization and project profitability, comparing actual results to budgets, forecasts, and goals to identify significant trends, variances, and opportunities.
• Model Development: Build, update, and maintain Excel-based financial models, schedules, and reporting tools, cleaning and combining data from multiple sources, using advanced formulas and pivot tables, and ensuring accuracy before delivery.
• Client Support: Prepare comprehensive materials for client meetings, financial strategy sessions, and planning sessions, supporting consultants with research, detailed data analysis, and client follow-up items while documenting key findings and decisions.
• Quality and Process Improvement: Review all deliverables for accuracy, consistency, and professional presentation, follow established reporting and file-management processes, and identify opportunities to automate or streamline repetitive tasks to enhance efficiency.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field, demonstrating a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements, suitable for an entry-level professional.
• Experience: Recent graduates and candidates with up to two years of relevant experience, coupled with strong Microsoft Excel skills including proficiency in formulas, XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, pivot tables, charts, and maintaining structured workbooks.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to organize information effectively while managing multiple deadlines.
• Bonus: Internship or work experience in financial analysis, reporting, audit, consulting, or corporate accounting; experience preparing or reviewing financial statements, especially for small or service-based businesses; familiarity with QuickBooks Online or other accounting systems; and exposure to budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, or data visualization tools like Power BI, Microsoft Copilot, or ChatGPT.
