Financial Analyst | Truist

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Compile, review, and contribute to accurate reporting on financial performance, including pro forma projections, forecasts, cash flow, and variance analysis, ensuring data integrity for senior leadership.
• Financial Analysis: Apply foundational to intermediate finance and accounting knowledge to produce relevant financial analysis and reporting, while progressively deepening understanding of business concepts, financial drivers, and enterprise processes.
• Problem Solving: Apply analytical frameworks, training, and best practices to assist in solving operational or technical problems of increasing complexity, drafting summaries of issues and proposed solutions for leadership review.
• Process Support: Support monthly financial close, forecasting, and annual financial planning processes by reviewing outputs for accuracy and reasonableness, assisting with required analyses, documentation, and economic or financial model development.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain strong working relationships with supported business partners and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality work, broaden business knowledge, and support internal and external audits and risk management activities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent education and training.
• Experience: 0-4 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, analytics, or a related field, which may include internships, rotational programs, or academic project work involving financial analysis.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to apply analytical frameworks to complex situations and make sound, logical decisions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for building consensus and presenting factual information effectively. Proficiency in core computer applications such as Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook is required. The ability to take direction, apply feedback, and progressively work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team-oriented environment is key.
• Bonus: Professional certifications (CPA, CMA, CFA), a Master’s degree or MBA, exposure to financial services or a regulated industry, experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., Essbase/Hyperion, EPM/BPC), interest in automation tools like macros or VBA, advanced SQL with experience querying and transforming data, strong proficiency in Tableau for dashboard development, experience with relational databases and cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure SQL), advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Power Query, PivotTables), Python programming for data analysis (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy), and experience building statistical or predictive models.
