Finance Summer Analyst Program at Morgan Stanley
The Finance Summer Analyst Program at Morgan Stanley is a 10-week program starting in June, offering a comprehensive introduction to the world of finance. Summer analysts are placed on teams within the Finance division, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to various functions within the department.
Here’s a breakdown of what the program entails:
Training:
• The program starts with a firmwide orientation, followed by market overviews and business unit-specific training.
• Most of the training takes place “on the job”.
• Throughout the summer, analysts participate in:
• Senior management speaker seminars.
• A group project.
• Community service activities.
• Social and networking events to build professional connections.
Department Profile:
• The Finance Division is led by the Chief Financial Officer and employs approximately 3,000 individuals worldwide.
• Their key responsibilities include:
• Safeguarding the integrity of Morgan Stanley’s books and records.
• Contributing to firm-wide risk management and reduction.
• Maintaining relationships with regulators.
• Acting as a conduit of financial information to the investment community.
• Providing financial advisory services to Morgan Stanley’s businesses and senior management.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Summer Analysts will:
• Join a high-performing team delivering financial reporting and analysis.
• Work with assigned teams to ensure the integrity of Morgan Stanley’s books and records.
• Provide financial reporting and analysis for business units, senior management, and regulators.
• Contribute to improving or enhancing processes for efficiency and control.
• Gain an understanding of Corporate Finance terminology, financial analytics and visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, etc.), and divisional structure.
• Collaborate with other summer analysts on a group project, proposing solutions to business challenges.
Qualifications and Skills:
• You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a passion/experience in accounting, finance, or economics.
• You are expected to graduate between December 2025 and June 2026.
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills are essential.
• You should be a team player who can thrive in a collaborative environment.
• Attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion in handling sensitive information are critical.
• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities are needed to handle competing priorities and deadlines.
• You should possess problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate processes using technology.
• You are a self-starter who can work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• You are driven, highly motivated, and results-focused.
