Intern_ Finance Operation and Compliance | ENGIE North America Inc.
The Tone:
This is a internship at ENGIE North America Inc., located in Houston, TX. ENGIE North America is actively leading the Zero-Carbon Transition, focusing on developing energy solutions that are renewable, efficient, and accessible to everyone. In this role, you will be an integral part of the GBS Accounting team, providing crucial support by reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, assessing internal control procedures, and verifying the accuracy of financial transactions. This position is designed to offer hands-on experience in financial operations and valuable insight into the comprehensive accounting processes that underpin complex retail activities, ultimately contributing to the optimization of financial workflows for improved efficiency.
The TL;DR

• Pay: $21–$32 hourly
• Team: Reports to the Director, Operational Finance, supporting the GBS Accounting team.
• Mission: Support financial operations and compliance by verifying transaction accuracy, assessing controls, and optimizing workflows for accounting processes.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, financial systems
What You’ll Actually Do
• Examine: Validate balance sheet reconciliations meticulously to ensure their accuracy and completeness in accordance with established accounting principles.
• Review: Assess non-standard financial transactions for correctness, consistency with accounting standards, and proper documentation to mitigate risks.
• Document: Help maintain thorough documentation related to all financial transactions, including the outcomes of review and compliance activities, ensuring audit readiness.
• Collaborate: Work closely with the accounting team to gain a deep understanding of, and provide support for, retail-related financial operations.
• Contribute: Assist with initiatives aimed at ensuring the business’s continuous adherence to all relevant compliance standards and internal policies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: You are currently a sophomore pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Interns must be enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester and available to work 20–30 hours per week, with the option for two or three in-office days, for the full three-month duration from September 2026 to December 2026.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, detail-oriented with excellent organizational capabilities, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant financial systems, along with effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
